Well, there's good news and then there's bad news...
The good news is the operation went smoothly. No problems with the surgery or the anesthesia. Mom seemed a little out of it afterwards, but that's to be expected. The hospital released her on Friday, and I had her stay at my place to recuperate. Thought it wise to watch her and make sure all was well. Unfortunately, Saturday didn't go as well as Friday. And Sunday didn't go as well as Saturday. Which brings me to the bad news: I'm blogging right now from the hospital because Mom's got a fever just shy of 104 and is suffering from pneumonia. On the positive side, they're taking care of her here and the fever's dropping. She was completely delirious just an hour or two ago, but right now she's more like her usual self. Hopefully, that trend continues and things get better and better. Antibiotics should make a huge difference.
I'm completely exhausted. Just fried. This weekend was a sick blur: hours upon hours of hospital waiting rooms and the rest of the time trying (and often failing) to help my mother as she suffered. Not fun. I don't wish it on anyone. And I feel like I could close my eyes right now and sleep for days. Once again, I'm so appreciative of all your well wishes via the comments and email, as they make this hard time that much better. Thanks for your support. I'll post my con report as soon as possible (once I catch up on sleep), and apologies for the delay.
that's not cool...
She will be better in no time, you'll see.
take a good rest if possible.
will be waiting for some more news, hopefully quite better than this.
hugs

I know how that is. Yes, it can be stressful and exhausting. Hubby landed in the hospital last year with (at the time) inexplicable and severe pain, which turned out in part to be pneumonia and then later they found a small pulmonary embolism (yikes!). Later on, they figured the extreme pain was an oncoming case of shingles. (Due to stress from a previous bad cellulitis leg infection at a mole biopsy site, but that's a long story.) And nope, you don't need to be 60 to have shingles, we found out!
I'm sure your mother will be feeling better soon. Meanwhile, you should get some rest! We blogging folks can wait. ;) Probably not much you do can do to help right now and you're no good to anyone all wiped out. No apologies necessary.
Take care, and sincere Get Well wishes to your mom.

*hug*
I just sat in support with my mom following her surgery a couple weeks ago. A person looks so fragile in a hospital bed, no matter what, outside of their normal context. All that much more challenging to be there for her and trying to take care of her when she's the one who was always taking care of you.
I hope you will post soon and let us know how your mother is doing. I hope she shakes the pneumonia and heals quickly.
