My mother fell and broke her arm. Four hours in the emergency room. The break is high on the right arm, just below the rotator cuff. She's in a lot of pain, but the prognosis is good. No cast, just a sling and an ace bandage. Oh, and vicodin. Three weeks of immobilization followed by physical therapy. I've been checking in and helping her as best I can.
She knew she'd broken it the moment she fell. Heard a loud crack as she hit the floor. That's never happened to me. I used to ski, and every time I fell my skis would clack together, and I'd mistake the sound for a break. I've been very lucky in that I've not broken many bones thus far. Broken nose from a fight, but that's years ago (and mostly just cartilage).
I hope you're all doing well tonight. Stay safe.
Oh, no! That can't be fun. :\
You got your nose broken in a fight??
Well, best wishes to her for a speedy recovery. @};-

Thanks for the good wishes, Gail! I'll pass them on to her. Yes, I got my nose broken at a karate tournament years and years ago. Bang. Not fun, but I suspect it's not as bad as breaking an arm or a leg.

Nick: Ohhh, that kind of fight. (What sort of martial arts were you doing?) I don't know if it would be worse. I've been fortunate enough to have never had a broken bone (yet!) although I've had a couple of small fractures. Not sure how I've managed to escape it with all the sports, but then I've also never tried snow skiing, so ....

(But it's probably good she didn't injure the rotator cuff. I've heard those take a long time to heal.)

Eek! That's not fun. I've never broken a bone either, but man, that sucks. I'll keep her in my thoughts and hope for a speedy recovery!

That's terrible. I haven't broken a bone since I was kid, and I hope to keep it that way.
Get better soon Mama Nick Sagan.
